Reservation for women in state legislatures and Parliament: History, need, and the current bill

The Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, the 128th Constitution amendment bill, proposes a 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state legislatures. This bill is aimed at addressing the underrepresentation of women in Indian politics. Currently, only 15% of the Lok Sabha is comprised of women, and none of the state assemblies have more than 10% women.
